WWE 2K25 Review: An In-Depth Look at the Latest Wrestling Video Game
WWE 2K25 is an absolute blast, bringing all the fast-paced action and excitement you'd expect from the legendary wrestling game series. The gameplay is super fun, with smooth mechanics that make every match feel intense and captivating. Whether you're taking control of the cover star, Roman Reigns, or Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso, in Showcase Mode, or even setting up your dream matchups, there's never a dull moment. The upgraded graphics and slick animations make the action look more real than ever, really pulling you into the experience.
While the gameplay definitely stands out, the customization options fall short of expectations. The character creation and customization feel more limited than you'd hope, especially given the potential for so much more. There’s definitely a lack of depth when it comes to designing wrestlers and arenas. Fans who love diving into customization will probably feel a bit let down by the limited choices available.
The storylines in modes like MyRise and Showcase are definitely a highlight in WWE 2K25. MyRise stands out, offering an immersive career mode where your decisions actually shape your wrestler’s journey. Showcase Mode is also a fan favorite, letting you relive iconic matches and storylines from WWE history, specifically involving storylines with members of The Bloodline. Both modes deliver fresh, exciting narratives that keep you hooked as you progress through the game.
One downside of the game is The Island Mode, which doesn't quite live up to expectations. The limited match types make it feel like a missed opportunity. Players were hoping for more variety in gameplay, but instead, the mode feels pretty restricted, which hurts its replay value. The inclusion of paywalls behind certain clothing also doesn’t help.
However, On the bright side, the servers are better than ever in WWE 2K25. The game offers a smooth, lag-free experience, making it much easier to find a full lobby and enjoy online matches. The addition of MyGM Online is a cool new feature, letting players manage their own brand in an online setting. That said, it’s still a bit limited when it comes to actually playing or watching the AI compete in matches, so hopefully, that’ll be expanded in future updates.
Overall, WWE 2K25 is a step in the right direction. Correcting bugs and problems that have been seen in the previous title for years. Hopefully, 2K continues to push forward and not take any steps backward involving future WWE games. Features like customization and The Island are the main things expected to be improved on for next year's game.
