WWE Backlash Heads to St. Louis
WWE announced today that Backlash will be held at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, on Saturday, May 10th. This event will be held two weeks after WrestleMania, making it a quick turnaround for the WWE. Backlash was thought to be going international for the third straight year; however, it will now emanate in the States. The Worldwide Leader in Sports and Entertainment will look to continue the success that they have had with this post-WrestleMania Premium Live Event. Last year’s Backlash event in France was then the largest gate for any arena show in WWE history.
WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque posted a video on X announcing the news with the caption stating that “Every WrestleMania, there are winners and losers, but for every action, there is a Backlash.” Adding to the hype of the event, St. Louis native Randy Orton will most certainly be a part of this show. Orton announced on WWE’s Instagram account that tickets will go out on March 21st. John Cena is also confirmed to be a part of Backlash. This will be Cena’s first Backlash appearance since 2009 as he continues his year-long farewell tour. However, with his WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes set for WrestleMania, one has to wonder if he will be heading into this event as a 17-time World Champion.
St. Louis has been a part of WWE history, being the host to memorable moments that fans can look back on. The city has hosted two Royal Rumbles, two Survivor Series events, the 2017 Money in the Bank event, and the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw. Now, the city will get to host the first PLE after WrestleMania 41. For the past two years, international crowds were praised for being energetic during this event; now it is St. Louis’s turn to do the same thing.
