Yankees Take Their Eighth Straight Win in Sweep Against the Twins

MLB

After falling short of expectations the past few seasons, the laser-hot New York Yankees have obliterated teams nearly through the first two and a half months of the season. They’re currently 45-19 and now hold the best record not only in the American League but the entire MLB. New York’s quest to make another World Series appearance may be a reality if they continue their dominance. The Yankees just won their eighth game in a row after defeating the Minnesota Twins 8-5. They’ll now start a three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, who just lost two out of three games to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Yankees winning streak started on May 29th. They defeated the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the last two games of a three-game series. New York then traveled to San Francisco for a three-game matchup with the Giants. During this series, the Yankees outscored the Giants 20-10 and won all three games by two runs or more. Afterwards, the Bronx Bombers traveled back home where they took on the Twins in a three-game series. New York outscored Minnesota 22-11 and obtained the sweep. They’ve certainly been one of if not the most dominant teams in the Majors this season. If the Yankees can win the series against the Dodgers, this may prove they have a legitimate shot of being a World Series contender.

This team has the best record in the American League by five games. The Baltimore Orioles, who won the AL East division last year are currently four and a half games behind the Yankees for first place within the division. New York’s eight-game win streak is the longest active winning streak for the Bronx Bombers since the 2022 regular season when they won nine in a row between June 6th and 18th. During this season, the Yankees completed a season sweep against the Twins, winning all six of their meetings. This marks the ninth time in franchise history that the Yankees have gone 6-0 or better against one opponent in a season. It’s the fourth time the Yankees have completed this accomplishment against the Twins.
