Young Sharpshooter Signs with the Bucks
Gary Trent Jr. and the Bucks have finalized a one-year deal. Although the 2023-24 season was a quiet one for Trent, the 25-year-old seems to be a focal point for the Bucks’ upcoming seasons. With a contract similar to what Grayson Allen and Donte DiVincenzo recently received, Trent seems to fit an equal role to what those two play for their teams. After Milwaukee made some big trades and brought in more pieces last season, the team looks to contend in the East once again with plenty of talent.
Playing alongside Giannis Antetokunmpo, Damian Lillard, and Khris Middleton, Trent adds an element as a three-and-defense specialist. As a career 39.3% three-point shooter, Trent has proven himself as a true wing scorer. In his tenure with the Raptors, he averaged 16.4 points per game and 1.4 steals per game, being a reliable perimeter threat. Trent is a great compliment to a talented lineup that the Bucks are looking to move forward with.
This core has played together for a full season now, forming at the start of last season. With the signing of Trent, it is clear that the focus is to keep adding young talent and grow the chemistry. Although the Eastern Conference is full of contenders at the top, Milawkauee has established a foundation full of potential and superstar talent. Having Trent signed for the future allows him to play a significant role in helping the team get back to championship caliber.
