Young Superstar Gets Massive Deal with the 76ers

NBA

It has been reported that upcoming superstar Tyrese Maxey has signed a five-year, $204 million deal with the 76ers. This is coming off Maxey entering free agency as a restricted free agent after his four-year contract to start his career with the Philadelphia 76ers. Maxey so far has improved his scoring every year of his career and has become one of the best players in the league. With the 76ers signing 15-year veteran Paul George in free agency as well, the Philadelphia faithful has a lot to look forward to next season.

In college, the upcoming superstar shined at Kentucky. However, his draft stock was most likely impacted by the shortened season due to Covid. Maxey averaged 14 points a game in his single college season before being drafted 21st overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. If Maxey had been able to play in March Madness he may have gone much earlier in the draft. Although being drafted in the backend of the first round did not stop Maxey from quickly shining.

He of recent has been asked to fill a much bigger role due to constant nagging injuries to Sixers superstar Joel Embiid. This past season in games Embiid did not play Maxey was one of the best scorers in the entire NBA. For his career, he has averaged 17.9 points per game overall. However, when Embiid is out he has put together an impressive 22.1 points per game. Maxey has had huge performances in the last year showing the ability to be truly dominant in the future. Maxey showed his skillset on April 7th scoring a career-high 52 points in a double overtime game against the Spurs. Any team would have jumped at the chance to get Maxey in free agency this year and the 76ers are lucky to have him on such a great deal. The impact he has on the game is unmatched and the fans are definitely in for a treat for years to come.
