Young Top-Tier Cornerback Signs with the Giants
After four impactful seasons with the New Orleans Saints, cornerback Paulson Adebo has agreed to terms with the New York Giants. The 25-year-old defensive back entered free agency following the 2024-25 NFL season, during which he showcased his playmaking abilities despite a season-ending injury. Adebo's addition is anticipated to bolster the Giants' secondary as they aim for a strong campaign in the upcoming season.
Selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Stanford, Adebo quickly became a key contributor for the Saints. Over his tenure in New Orleans, he appeared in 52 games, starting 51, and recorded 190 solo tackles, 10 interceptions, and 43 passes defensed. His rookie season saw him start all 17 games, tallying 51 solo tackles and three interceptions, setting the foundation for a promising career.
In the 2024 season, Adebo continued to demonstrate his defensive prowess. Through seven games, he amassed 41 solo tackles and three interceptions, including a 47-yard return, before suffering a broken femur in October during a game against the Denver Broncos, which placed him on injured reserve. Despite the injury, multiple teams viewed Adebo as a top-tier free agent, recognizing his significant contributions to the Saints' defense.
Adebo's combination of size, speed, and football intelligence has made him a sought-after player in the free-agent market. Standing at six-foot-one and weighing 192 pounds, he possesses the physical attributes desirable in a shutdown cornerback. His ability to read opposing offenses and make critical plays in coverage has been a hallmark of his career thus far.
The Giants have secured a dynamic defender in Adebo, who is expected to make an immediate impact. As he returns to full health, the team is optimistic that he will regain his pre-injury form. Adebo and the Giants agreed to a three-year deal worth 30 million, reinforcing the team's commitment to strengthening their secondary. His signing adds a proven playmaker to the roster as they look to compete at a high-level next season.
