10-Year Veteran Point Guard Signs with the Mavericks

NBA

This past NBA season, 10-year veteran point guard Spencer Dinwiddie was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Los Angeles Lakers. He was traded to Los Angeles in order to help the Lakers win as many games as possible, secure a high seed, and go deep into the playoffs. However, that’s not how the season panned out for Los Angeles as they clinched the seventh seed and were eliminated in five games by the Denver Nuggets. Dinwiddie only appeared in one game during that five-game playoff series and during that one game, he played just five minutes. The 10-year veteran is looking to sign to a championship-caliber team, so today Dinwiddie signed a deal with the Dallas Mavericks for One year.

Dinwiddie started off his career as a Detroit Pistons, being selected as the 38th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He played three seasons in Detroit before being traded to the Chicago Bulls. In December 2016, the 10-year veteran point guard signed with the Brooklyn Nets. Dinwiddie was able to expand his game and become a more elevated player as a member of the Nets, spending five seasons in Brooklyn before agreeing to a sign/trade to the Washington Wizards for Russell Westbrook. Only a couple of months later, he would get traded again, this time to the Dallas Mavericks. The following year, Dallas traded Dinwiddie back to the Brooklyn Nets. It was only a year later when again, he was traded, now to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In 76 games played with both the Nets and the Lakers last season, the 10-year veteran averaged about 11 points, three rebounds, five assists, and a steal. He started all 48 games he was with Brooklyn, while only starting four out of 28 games with Los Angeles. His best statistical season was back during the 2019-2020 NBA regular season when he averaged nearly 21 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and a steal a game. With the Mavericks, Dinwiddie will ensure he plays lights out and helps Dallas for a potential championship run.
