12-Year Veteran Signs with the Pistons
After an underwhelming playoff performance, Tobias Harris has made a new home with the Detroit Pistons next season. Harris signed a two-year, $52 million contract after his five-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers has expired. His new contract looks a little different than his last, following underwhelming numbers as a 76er. Now given another chance on a new contract, Harris will look to step up in a new role as a member of the Pistons.
In the 2023-24 season, Harris was the 19th highest-paid player in the NBA. With this amount of money, Philadelphia had high hopes for Harris to be an elite wing scorer and potential All-Star. However, his numbers dropped nearly every year as a member of the 76ers, and the playoff success was nonexistent. Harris ended his time with the 76ers after a Game Six loss to the New York Knicks, shooting just two shots and putting up zero points on the scoreboard.
Harris looks to return to his borderline All-Star form once again on his new deal. As a former 20-points-per-game scorer, Harris still possesses a valuable skill set for any championship team. Bringing 12 years of experience to the Pistons helps add another piece to a team aiming to make a postseason push. Entering another season at age 32, Harris will look to make the most of what could be his last big contract.
