Drew Eubanks Signs with the Jazz

NBA

Drew Eubanks, the former Oregon State Beaver, has signed with the Utah Jazz on a two-year contract worth $10 million. At his height of six foot and 10 inches, he can be impactful on both ends of the floor playing either the power forward or center positions. This positional versatility has provided Eubank’s teams with flexibility in its rotations which can be impactful for team success.  In his limited opportunities throughout his career thus far, he has shown that he can be a capable starter for a team when called upon.

Eubanks started his career with the San Antonio Spurs after going undrafted. In San Antonio, Eubanks didn’t do too much for the team as he only scored about five points a game with about 12 minutes of game time. However, when Eubanks went to the Portland Trail Blazers, Eubanks showed he could be a capable starter when given about 30 minutes a game over a 20-game stretch where he averaged 15 points and nine rebounds a game. However, ever since he signed with the Suns, and got put outside of the starting lineup, he hasn’t been the same. This past year he only got 16 minutes a game and only had about five points and four rebounds a game.

It was clear that the Phoenix Suns were not a good fit for Eubanks as his numbers this past year plummeted. However, with Eubanks still early in his career, he has time to continually develop his game. Given his dimensions and high efficiency on shots around the basket at over 60% in his career, Eubanks can be an effective center or power forward when given solid minutes. The Jazz will look to utilize Eubanks to the best of their ability to get the most out of him next season.
