2024 Home Run Derby Champion Re-Signs with the Dodgers

MLB

2024 all-star and World Series Champion Teoscar Hernandez has reportedly re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The deal is going to pay him $66 million for three years, with a possible fourth-year option. Hernandez brings the offensive star power to the team and above-average defensive play in the outfield. Hernandez will be the promising left fielder the Dodgers need and have been without the past few years. The deal comes after signing a one-year deal with the Dodgers for $23.5 million.

Hernandez had a terrific year with the Dodgers. He constantly expressed how much he loved Los Angeles and the organization. He made multiple public comments about how he would like to come back, but the ball was in the front office’s court. He put up a career-high 33 home runs and 53 walks to accommodate his .272 batting average. Teoscar made the all-star team in 2024 for the second time in his career and defeated Bobby Witt Jr. to become the 2024 Home Run Derby Champion. Perhaps topping all of those accomplishments is the one all players dream of: a World Series title. Hernandez played a big part in the Dodgers’ second World Series all season long. He was reliable all season long and played in 154 games in 2024. Although he struggled overall in the postseason, he came up clutch in the World Series against the Yankees. Some of his contributions include gunning Giancarlo Stanton out at home on a single and hitting an RBI double in the clinching game to help the team tie it up.

Teoscar Hernandez is a great player, but do not let his athletic ability outshine his locker-room presence. Hernandez brings great vibes to the team and uplifts the spirits in the dugout. Throughout the 2024 season, Hernandez always looked like he was happy to be there. When you are signing Teoscar, you are not signing a great player who is only going to worry about himself. You are signing a player that is going to make everybody around him better and is going to be a leader in the clubhouse. Signing Hernandez is going to be one of the best moves the Dodgers make this offseason.
