24-Year-Old with Questionable Potential Signs to the Lakers
Over the course of his five-year career, shooting guard/small forward Cam Reddish has the chance to show the NBA his unlimited potential. However, his NBA career has not panned out as expected. Reddish has played with four different teams in five seasons. The 24-year-old’s potential has now been in question, and since the end of the season, Reddish has become a free agent. It was just reported that Cam opted into his 2.5 million dollar player option with the Los Angeles Lakers.
During the 2019 NBA Draft, Reddish was selected by the Atlanta Hawks as the 10th overall pick. He averaged just around 11 points in two and a half seasons with the Hawks. Reddish was traded to the New York Knicks. He played just 35 games over the next season and a half with the Knicks, before being traded a second time, this time to the Portland Trail Blazers. The 24-year-old played 20 games in Portland. After the 2022-2023 season ended Reddish signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. His potential is certainly in question after he put up career lows in 48 games played in Los Angeles.
In 48 games and in 26 starts, the 24-year-old averaged about five points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal a night. His best game of the season was back on November 12th against his former team, the Portland Trail Blazers. Reddish dropped 18 points, along with seven rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a block during a 116-110 victory. The Lakers should put their full faith in Reddish and give him all the confidence in the world, to help him improve and grow at just 24 years old.
