Former Top Five Draft Pick Re-Signs to the Bulls
The Chicago Bulls have re-signed Patrick Williams to a five-year, 90-million-dollar deal. The former number four overall pick will get another chance to showcase his high-prospect ability after an injury-riddled season. Coming off season-ending surgery on his foot, Williams looks to be ready once again for the 2024 season opener. After showing major promise at the start of last season, the Bulls re-add their young, versatile forward to the mix.
Williams has averaged double digits on 45% from the floor and 41% from three in his last two years. As an athletic forward, he also presents himself as a defensive threat, averaging just under one steal and block per game. In a stretch from Nov. 22 to Dec 30, Williams stepped up his game, averaging 14 ppg on 52% from the field, while contributing as an all-around player. Injuries began to pile up after the hot start, riddling his numbers and ultimately his season. This has been the biggest burden for Williams, limiting him to just 213 games played out of 328 in his first four years.
Now, the Florida State alum will get a fresh chance on a new contract. Joining a young squad with loaded talent, Williams is a perfect athletic wing to add to the team formula. His physicality mixed with efficient scoring allows him to be a deeper option on the Bulls and take a burden off the defensive end. Entering age 23, it is Williams “prove-it” time to live up to his draft stock.
