25-Year-Old Linebacker Agrees to Deal Back with the Patriots
After playing the first four years of his NFL career with the New England Patriots, 25-year-old linebacker Josh Uche hit free agency at the conclusion of the 2023 NFL season. While Uche did not perform as he potentially could have last season, he should have the confidence to make the next step of his NFL journey. It was just announced that Josh has signed a one-year deal to return with the Patriots. The young linebacker may not have gotten the respect he deserves after playing with a disastrous Patriots team last season, but he’ll hope to gain that from his peers very quickly come the 2024 season.
Josh Uche played four years of college ball at the University of Michigan. During his senior year, he recorded 34 tackles, 23 of which were solo tackles. He had 11 and a half tackles for a loss of yardage, with eight and a half sacks. Uche was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten in 2019. After his senior year, the 25-year-old linebacker declared for the NFL Draft. Josh was selected with the 60th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
Last season, Uche played in 15 games. The 25-year-old linebacker had 15 combined tackles, nine of those being solo tackles, and six being assisted tackles. He also had four tackles for loss of yardage with three sacks. During the 2022 season, Uche had 27 combined tackles with 11 and a half sacks. He has the opportunity and the potential that can certainly reassert himself as one of the best young linebackers in the league with the Patriots.
