2021 Pro Bowl Cornerback Resigns with the Colts
Having spent his first seven seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, cornerback Kenny Moore II entered this offseason as a free agent for the first time in his career. Despite a disappointing end to the Colts’ playoff hopes in a Week 18 loss against the Houston Texans, Moore remained a reliable starter at the cornerback position. Now, it has been announced that Moore has signed a three-year 30-million-dollar deal to return with the Indianapolis Colts. Entering the 2024-25 season, Moore will provide the Colts with much-needed cornerback depth, as Moore will be able to continue utilizing his versatility and advanced tackling skills that have made him a premier cornerback in the league.
Prior to the NFL, Moore, 28, played at Valdosta State University for four seasons (2013-16). At the start of his collegiate career, Moore started as a cornerback but gradually transitioned to playing at the safety position. In his career at Valdosta State, Moore recorded 171 total tackles, 117 solo tackles, two sacks, 11 interceptions, one forced fumble, eight and a half tackles for loss, and 30 passes defended. In the 2017 NFL Draft, Moore would end up going undrafted and would sign as a free agent with the New England Patriots. The Patriots would waive Moore a couple of months later and the Colts would pick him up in September 2017.
Despite going undrafted and getting released by the Patriots, Moore’s determination and perseverance have led to him having had a substantial impact on the Colts’ defense. Moore would have his breakout season in 2018 after finishing the season with 77 total tackles, three interceptions, one and a half sacks, and 11 passes defended, which put on display his playmaking ability. Moore would have himself a memorable moment in the 2018 playoffs against the Texans, as he grabbed an interception late in the game to help propel the Colts to the next round of the playoffs that season. In seven seasons with the Colts, Moore recorded 516 total tackles, nine and a half sacks, four forced fumbles, and 17 interceptions.
