28-Year-Old Nose Tackles Signs to the Chargers
Last offseason, Teair Tart went from the Houston Texans to the Miami Dolphins after signing a one-year deal. However, after signing with the Dolphins on April 8th, the team released him a few months later on August 13th. Two days later, Tart signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. This past season, the Chargers had a solid outing going 11-6, yet, Los Angeles would be disappointed during the NFL Wild Card Round as the Houston Texans demolished them in a 32-12 matchup. Once again heading back to free agency, it has been announced that the 28-year-old nose tackle Teair Tart has signed a one-year deal to return to the Chargers for $5.5 million.
Tart went undrafted in 2020 and eventually signed with the Tennesee Titans. During his four seasons in Tennesee, he played 16 games in one season while playing just 11 in two seasons and seven during his rookie season. The 28-year-old nose tackle would be released and picked up by the Houston Texans in 2023. While his first few seasons looked a little rough, the bright side is that last season, Tart played all 17 regular season games with the Chargers helping the franchise make another playoff appearance which is what Teair needed to find another long-term home.
In 17 games last season, the 28-year-old nose tackle produced 20 combined tackles, 15 solo, and 14 assisted as well as five tackles for a loss of yardage, a sack, two pass deflections, and an interception. On December 1st during a 17-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Tart recorded five combined tackles, three solo and two assisted along with a tackle for a loss and a sack. During the playoff loss to the Texans, Teair had just three combined tackles. Hopefully with Los Angeles, Tart will continue to stay healthy and project his career in the right direction.
