Free Agent Wide Receiver Resigns with New York Giants
Free agency is coming fast and furious for many players around the NFL league. Everyone is looking to fill all of their open spaces whether it be through the draft or through whoever they can pick up through the free agency wire. For the New York Football Giants, one of their bigger pieces to the current Giants scheme has entered into free agency. The Giants also opted not to use the franchise tag on this player either. However, Darius Slayton has decided to stay with the Giants. He has recently signed a contract for three years worth $36 million.
Slayton has been with the Giants since he was drafted in 2019 in the fifth round. He is known for his speed, agility, and quickness. He has been an asset to the Giants and has been a big part of getting the ball down the field. It was he and Malik Nabers who were the ones that got the ball down the field. His stats with the Giants last season were he received 573 yards and two touchdowns. He carried for two and ran for 17 yards. He only fumbled the ball once this season.
In total his career has been much better all together. His career stats were he has received for 3,897, scored 21 touchdowns in total, and has had a total of five fumbles during his time with the Giants. He has really been a big asset for the Giants in the past. With Slayton now staying in New York, they have something they know they can rely on. If Slayton can continue to make the plays that this team needs, he shouldn’t have any problems fitting in with whoever they decide to bring in at quarterback.
