Adley Rutschman Will Certainly Make the American League All-Star Team After a Career Day

MLB

With the 2024 MLB All-Star voting taking place, many of the league’s favorites will skyrocket to the top of the voting at their respective positions. There are a few one-time all-stars around the league that have played great and will look to become multi-time all-stars. One of those guys is Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman, who was named to his first all-star team last season. After putting up a career day during a 9-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field, Rutschman will certainly make the American League all-star team as he’s been one of the top hitters within the AL. In the American League East division, the O’s are two and a half games behind the New York Yankees, who just lost two out of three games to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Rutschman got the first run on the board for both teams yesterday during the top of the third inning. He pulled a solid blooper to right-center field, which allowed shortstop Gunnar Henderson to cruise to home plate. A few innings later at the top of the seventh inning, the 2023 all-star got his second RBI of the day with another single, this time to left field. An inning later, the O’s catcher crushed a grand slam off of Rays reliever Phil Maton. This helped put Baltimore up 9-2, which turned out to be the final score of this matchup. For the first time in Orioles history, the offense recorded three triples and a grand slam. Rutschman knocked in six RBIs for the day which is a career-high for the 26-year-old. He now has 13 home runs and 49 RBIs on the season.

After the game, Rutschman said, “As a team, collectively, I think you see guys just continually getting a little bit better each day. That’s why it’s fun to watch. Like, you see guys continuously improving because they’re just so committed to their process.” He also said, “Honestly, I’m really proud of our team, just from the standpoint of I think our guys show up every single day and they’re ready to go. Guys don’t take at-bats off, they don’t take days off. Even a day like today, early game, guys show up and they’re ready to go. Everyone’s attitude and their effort levels the entire year have been extremely impressive.” Can the Orioles retake the AL East division? Will Rutschman become a multi-time all-star?
