Are the Dodgers More Than Favorites to Win Back-to-Back World Series?
After signing Blake Snell to a five-year deal, while having current and former MVPs like Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts on lock for the next couple of seasons, the Los Angeles Dodgers look like they will be the next dynasty within any sport. You could say this team hasn’t even reached its full potential yet, and they could do some serious damage during the 2025 MLB season. The craziest part about all this is the 2024 National League MVP Ohtani did not even pitch this past season, and should be on track to return to the mound next season, considering his injuries are all cleared. The Dodgers are still celebrating their 2024 World Series championship, but now in Los Angeles more than favorites to win back-to-back World Series championships.
Last season, Los Angeles spent well over a billion dollars to build their World Series squad. Already with Snell, the Dodgers have spent a little less than 200 million. Regardless, the Dodgers will spend whatever money is necessary to keep their dynasty in the mind of every baseball fan around the country. Snell’s former teams like the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres wouldn’t dare to spend money like the Dodgers have the past two seasons. Just from how much this team dominated last season, to now having one of the best pitched in the league within the rotation makes this team a whole lot scarier. Unless a team in the American League, potentially like the New York Yankees can stockpile some talent to go bat for bat and or pitch for pitch with the potential back-to-back World Series champions.
Snell is the first major domino to fall within the MLB’s free agency market. Most likely the next one would be Juan Soto. Depending on where Soto signs will shape up how the American and National League will look in 2025. Hypothetically, if the Dodgers turned around and spent money to acquire Soto, we could see a dynasty that could be everlasting. Los Angeles could aim to achieve the most wins in an MLB season and shoot their shot to become back-to-back World Series champions.
