Arsenal and Manchester City Continue the Climb for the Premier League Title

With only a handful of games left for two of England’s battle-tested squads, Arsenal and Manchester City will look towards what will be one of the more insane finishes to a campaign that we have seen in over a decade. With Arsenal having just two games remaining, while ahead on a singular point to Juggernaut Manchester City, the final countdown is now on. Arsenal and Man City played yesterday, with both sporting well-deserved results in their climb to the top.

Arsenal hosted mid-table AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates early today, where Mikel Arteta’s squad was nothing short of perfection. In a first half that saw both teams feeling one another out, we then got a penalty call right at the brink of halftime for the Gunners. The star boy Bukayo Saka would slot this one past the keeper to take hold of the match going into the dressing room, 1-0. As always, Arsenal was not done having a keen eye for goal. This is when in the 70th minute, Declan Rice took a ball down at the edge of the penalty area, where he found a beaming Leandro Trossard who made no mistake hitting the back of the net. As time went on in the match, Bournemouth looked slow, and Arsenal made them pay for it. This is when substitute Gabriel Jesus made an exquisite turn outside the sixteen, slotting Rice behind the defense for him to notch his eighth goal of the campaign. The final would be 3-0, and Arsenal will now look forward to a trip to Old Trafford against Manchester United.

At the Etihad Stadium, reigning treble winners Manchester City would host the Wolverhampton Wanderers, in a game that was vital to stay right on Arsenal’s tail for the title. Manchester City flew high to a 5-1 win against the Wolves, with the help of their main man Erling Haaland. Haaland notched four goals in the victory, escalating ahead of Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. Haaland now has 25 goals in the campaign, making him the likely winner of this year's Golden Boot. With a balanced attack in the late stages, Julian Alvarez came on as a striker and tallied on a late goal. With the massive victory, the goal differential still goes Arsenal’s way with +6 over City. That could be the defining moment late in the campaign if both teams see a draw on points. Next up for Man City will be mid-table Fulham on the road at Craven Cottage. For both sides, it is necessary to not drop points late in the season.
