Aston Villa Scores Signings During Transfer Window

Over the last two days, Premier League team Aston Villa announced multiple signings and loans for the 2025 season. The Premier League winter transfer window to sign players officially closed, leaving teams to rush to announce their newest players. Aston Villa took advantage of this transfer window, especially with players on loans for this season. With the team currently in eighth place in the Premier League and set to play Tottenham Hotspur for the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend, Aston Villa is focusing on moving up on the table. Aston Villa’s newest players joining the team include Marco Asensio, Donyell Malen, Marcus Rashford and Axel Disasi, all incredible players in their rights.

Aston Villa plans to strengthen their offense with Asensio, Malen and Rashford but keep their defense strong with Axel Disasi. Marco Asensio spent eight years playing with Real Madrid before his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, and now on loan to Aston Villa. With multiple Champions League wins under Asensio’s belt, the Spanish forward will strengthen Aston Villa’s offense and score some much-needed goals. As for the race for Rashford, Aston Villa became the official winner. With his troubles at Manchester United, being consistently left out of the squad for multiple games, and his desire for something new, Rashford being loaned out to Aston Villa fits. Playing at Aston Villa allows Rashford to stay in the Premier League, somewhere he has spent his entire professional career playing, but with a change of pace and a new chance at success that he didn’t see at United.

Also cleaning up Aston Villa’s offense is Donyell Malen. Although a newer name to the soccer world, Malen is a crucial member of any team he plays for. At PSV Malen scored 40 goals in 82 games, and at Borussia Dortmund, he scored 30 goals in 94 games. With Aston Villa in eighth place in the Premier League, a consistent goal scorer like Malen will quickly help them move up. As for their defense, Aston Villa signed Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea. The center-back was quite sought after by Tottenham, with Spurs trying to sign him twice but failing. However, a strong player, Disasi has struggled to find his footing at Chelsea and failed to become a consistent starter. However, Aston Villa could be the chance for him to prove himself.

With these signings, Aston Villa is sure to impress in the coming months; however, there are some setbacks. Since Disasi played in the FA Cup for Chelsea, he will not be able to play for Aston Villa in the fourth round. This issue will not impact Marcus Rashford because he was left out of the United squad during their FA Cup game. Since Donyell was in the Bundesliga and Asensio in Ligue 1, they also will be allowed to play against Tottenham. Disasi will also miss the game against Chelsea on February 22, and Rashford will miss the game against Manchester United on May 25. Aside from the setbacks, Aston Villa simply scored during the winter transfer window, strengthening their offense and fortifying their defense. With only a few more days until they face off against Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Aston Villa needs all the help they can get to ensure a victory. The four signings are smart and calculated moves by Aston Villa, bringing in strong players who desire to play at a new team.
