Best NFL Team Bets for Week Three

NFL

With the NFL season in full swing, people are already forming strong opinions on which teams will make the playoffs and which ones will have the first overall pick in next year’s draft. With each new week, there is new information to be gleaned about how good a team is based on their previous week’s performance. This, combined with injuries to key players, creates opportunities for people to profit from. Therefore, what are the best opportunities in this week’s NFL matchups?

New England Patriots +6.5 vs. New York Jets

Despite what was believed at the start of the season, the Patriots are playing the game of football the right way. The Patriots are dominant on the ground with Rhamondre Stevenson and are committed to playing complimentary football. The Patriots, through two games, have averaged 177.5 rushing yards a game, which is the fifth most in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Jets have allowed, on average, 155 rushing yards a game this season, which ranks 24th in the NFL. The Patriots' formula to winning games this season is predicated on this ground game, and unless the Jets' defense steps up, then the Patriots might come away with a low-scoring win on Thursday Night Football.

Kansas City Chiefs -3.5 vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Chiefs continue to prove that they are not only the team to beat in the AFC but also across the entire league. The Atlanta Falcons are a nice up-and-coming team, but the Chiefs have been here for a long time. Although Patrick Mahomes had a rough game last week, they still managed to find a way to win. Not to mention, this game will take place on primetime, in which Patrick Mahomes has notoriously thrived while Kirk Cousins has historically struggled.

Houston Texans -2.5 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Sam Darnold is certainly on the rise with his recent success, but the Texans are a more well-rounded team. C.J. Stroud has a ton of weapons at his disposal, and this offense is one of the most explosive in the league. The Vikings offense is heavily dependent on Justin Jefferson, and although he should be back for this game, his injury should be enough to limit his explosiveness in this game. The Vikings, with Sam Darnold, will be one of the more interesting teams this season, but the Texans are likely going to be the first loss on their record.
