Browns Officially Eliminated from Playoff Contention with Loss to the Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Cleveland Browns, 27-14, as the teams split the season series. Russell Wilson threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Jameis Winston threw for 212 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Steelers continue to maintain their lead in the AFC North, with a two-game lead over the Baltimore Ravens.
Cleveland took its only lead of the game early in the first quarter when Winston connected with Jerry Jeudy down the middle of the field for a 35-yard touchdown. The momentum shifted when Winston attempted a short pass over the middle to Nick Chubb, and Keeanu Benton intercepted the pass. Pittsburgh converted the turnover into points as Najee Harris plowed his way up the middle for a one-yard touchdown. In the third quarter, the Steelers scored touchdowns on back-to-back drives.
Wilson connected with Van Jefferson on a short pass to the right for a 10-yard score. The Steelers extended their lead 27-7 when Wilson had a short pass over the middle to Pat Freiermuth for a 20-yard touchdown and put the game out of reach. Cleveland has dropped four of their last five, while Pittsburgh has won seven of their last eight. Cleveland hosts Kansas City next week, while Pittsburgh will make a short trip to Philadelphia.
