Browns vs. Chargers Week Nine Recap

NFL

The Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Cleveland Browns 27-10 on Sunday afternoon. Justin Herbert went 18 for 27, with 282 yards and two touchdowns. Jameis Winston threw for 235 yards and had one touchdown to go along with three interceptions. The Chargers are currently the sixth seed, while the Browns are at the bottom of the AFC North.

Prior to this game, the Chargers were a run-heavy team all season. Today, Herbert slung the ball and found Joshua Palmer for a 28-yard touchdown and hit Quentin Johnston on a 66-yard bomb in the first half. Cleveland got on the board in the second quarter as a drive stalled, and Dustin Hopkins made a 38-yard field goal. The Chargers took a commanding 20-3 lead near the end of the first half behind a J.K. Dobbins 16-yard touchdown on the left side.

After a scoreless third quarter, the two teams traded touchdowns before the Chargers sealed the game late in the fourth quarter with a drive on which Dobbins took every handoff. Dobbins essentially had his own drive of 46 yards capped off on a seven-yard touchdown to put on the final touches. Winston connected with Cedric Tillman on a 17-yard touchdown pass for Cleveland’s lone touchdown of the game. The alone bright spot for Cleveland was Myles Garrett, who had three sacks. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year lined up everywhere on the field and kept Cleveland from being flat-out dominated. Cleveland failed to score over 20 points for the eighth time this season. The Chargers move to 5-3 on the season, while the Browns drop to 2-7.
