Browns Week Nine Takeaways

NFL

The Cleveland Browns were defeated by the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon. Last week, Jameis Winston threw for 334 yards for three touchdowns. This week, he threw for 235 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. It was quite the Jameis Winston experience. Winston has a history of being inconsistent where he follows up an amazing performance with a subpar game.

Nick Chubb looks like he has returned to form; he just needs more opportunities. In three games since his return, Chubb has yet to carry the ball more than 20 times in a game, and he has not yet had a carry for over 20 yards. A positive note for Cleveland has been their big plays; they had three plays of over 15 yards today, something that was non-existent in the first eight games.

The Browns man coverage had an off game, giving up 282 passing yards. There appeared to be multiple miscommunications on the back end. The Chargers also executed a great game plan against one of the more talented secondaries in the league. Two defensive backs, Martin Emerson and Grant Delpit were two of the top four leaders in tackles, which is a bad sign to see defensive backs at the top of the list in that category. Myles Garrett came into this game with four sacks and totaled three sacks alone today. The reeling Browns are heading in the direction of wasting another year of their Pro Bowl players while going to the top of the draft.
