Buffalo Bills 2024 Season Preview

NFL

The Buffalo Bills are coming off an 11-6 season that saw them lose to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs for the third time in four years. The Bills have a ton of questions regarding their offense. Their run game mainly relies on Josh Allen and they have little usage of their running backs. They also lost their top two pass catches in Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis. The X-factor will be Allen’s ability to elevate his teammates in the passing department. Khalil Shakir is a name to watch since he’s the receiver who has the most experience and familiarity with the Bills’ playbook. The Bills’ receiver room is looking to be by committee and be a balanced group.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bills let go of Tre’Davious White, Micah Hyde, and Jordan Poyer. The trio combined for five All-Pro selections. Despite these losses, the Bills are still a contender in the AFC. They are expected to take a hit defensively, however, as long as the Bills defense is above average, they still have a Bills offense that they can rely on. Their X-factor may be the backend of their defense. In recent years, their secondary was full of playmakers that can shut down the passing game. Now, their secondary is vulnerable and will have to rely on the front seven which is led by veteran All-Pro selection Matt Milano.

The key for the Bills come playoff time will be the two or three crucial plays. The Bills have shown that they can get wins at home to open up the playoffs but they have yet to solve the Patrick Mahomes code or even the Joe Burrow riddle. Allen’s playoff history has been shaky. He’s been excellent going toe to toe with Mahomes. On the other hand, he’s also had poor performances against Burrow and disappointing decision-making against the Houston Texans. Despite all their losses, the Bills are still a contender to watch out for because they still have Allen, one of the top-tier quarterbacks in the league.
