Cavs Beat Nets in NBA Paris Game
Recently the Cleveland Cavaliers have been heating up as they won all three of their last three games. They have a wide array of scorers on the roster including shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, point guard Darius Garland, shooting guard Caris LeVert, power forward Evan Mobley, center Jarrett Allen, and shooting guard Max Strus. Today, as they took on the Brooklyn Nets in Paris, the Cavs' hot streak continued as they won 111-102. Yesterday, they took on the Brooklyn Nets in Paris, the Cavs' hot streak continued as they won 111-102. This was the third regular season game that took place in Paris and 13th overall in France.
Through the first 37 games of this season, Cleveland has assembled a record of 22-15 and they currently sit as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Mitchell has been their star per usual, averaging 27 points a night. He has also had a huge defensive presence this year, ripping multiple steals every game. Garland has also been having an amazing season for the organization and even though he sat out this game due to a jaw injury, he has been doing a great job running the offense averaging nearly 21 points and 6 assists a game the whole season. On the other side, the Nets have not been having as good of a season putting together nearly the opposite record of Cleveland as they are currently 16-22 through 38 games. Shooting guard Cam Thomas and small forward Mikal Bridges have proved they can get it done on offense, averaging 20 and 21 points, but the rest of the team is going to have to step it up if they want to get off the borderline of being out of the playoffs.
Mitchell went off in this game in Paris as he dropped 45 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals, leading the Cavs to their win. LeVert also added 21 points off the bench. With Garland out, Mobley out due to recent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, and Max Strus only playing 7 minutes due to right knee soreness, it didn’t seem to matter in this one as Cleveland was the better team from the beginning of the game. Thomas and Bridges both had 26 points for Brooklyn and Lonnie Walker added 20 points, but it wasn’t enough, and the Nets will have to take a long plane ride back, after their unsuccessful trip to Paris, to Brooklyn to prepare to take on the Miami Heat on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Cavs will hope to keep their win streak going as they also play on Monday at home, against the Chicago Bulls. If the Cavs keep playing like this will they lock themselves in for a top-six spot in the Eastern Conference come playoff time?
