Chase U Officially Closes Its Doors
On the November 18th episode of NXT, NXT Champion Trick Williams sat on commentary to watch the number one contender match for his championship. Ridge Holland, who attacked Williams at the end of his match against Ethan Page at Halloween Havoc, faced the leader of Chase U Andre Chase. Even though it was a number one contenders match, some huge stipulations within this match could rock the foundation of NXT. If Chase loses the match, Chase U would officially have to disband for good. During a monumental match, Holland looked to have gotten the better of Chase after a low blow, however, members of Chase U like Duke Hudson, Thea Hail, and Riley Osborne did everything they could to stop Holland’s tyranny. Just when Chase looked to be in the driver’s seat, he was ultimately pinned by Holland, who will now go on to NXT Deadline as the top contender for Williams NXT Championship. Now, everyone is wondering what’s next since Chase U officially closed its doors.
Chase U began in September 2021 and has seen many superstars join their academic circuit. We’ve seen Holland, Hail, Hudon, Osborne, Bodhi Hayward, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx all at one time were members of the Chase U program. Andre Chase had never had a shot at the NXT Championship, and to put his entire stable at risk for this championship opportunity seemed very risky and foolish. Now, the failed dean of Chase U must look his students in the eyes knowing he failed not only them but himself as well. His relationship with Hail, Hudson, and Osborne will now be fragmented and the hopes of keeping their doors open even on the main roster have diminished. Chase U had two NXT Tag Team Championship reigns during their time, Chase and Hudson defeated Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo back at Halloween Havoc 2023, and then at NXT Heatwave 2024, Chase and Holland won the NXT Tag Team Championships from Nathan Frazer and Axiom.
Now with Chase U officially closing its doors, many will wonder what will happen within the storylines of Chase, Hudson, Hail, and Osborne. Perhaps, Trick Williams will fight to keep Chase U alive at NXT Deadline, but for now, Chase has to decide on what comes next in his career. As for Holland, he pinned Williams two weeks ago at the 2300 Arena, putting Williams in a worrying situation. We’ll have to see what comes about Chase U and its members within the coming weeks. For now, the legend of Chase U is over and that chapter in NXT has officially closed its doors.
