Dallas Cowboys 2024-2025 Season Outlook
This upcoming NFL season is a real make-or-break season for the Cowboys. Three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott is having contract disputes with the team, wanting roughly 50 million dollars once his contract is up after this season. Similarly, star receiver CeeDee Lamb has not been in training camp since it started two weeks ago, looking for a contract extension. This does nothing more than add pressure on the Cowboys to be in “win now” mode this season. They also lost running back Tony Pollard to the Titans in the offseason, leading them to bring back three-time Pro Bowl running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Even though Dallas made the playoffs last season, they got swamped by the Green Bay Packers in the first round. This adds more to the “Can Dak Prescott win?” question, as Prescott has two wins in seven playoff games with a two-to-one touchdown to interception ratio. Even though he had an MVP-level season last year, he was unable to even make their lone playoff game competitive. Cowboys fans across the nation have been pondering this question for the past couple of years, and his lack of playoff success is leading the team’s front office away from giving him a boatload of money. However, the re-signing of Zeke is very interesting for the Cowboys. After two decent seasons in New England, the Cowboys gave him a conservative one-year deal worth three million dollars. He joins a weak Dallas running back room consisting of Rico Dowdle, Royce Freeman, Malik Davis, and Deuce Vaughn. Elliot, once an unstoppable force in the Cowboys backfield, can hopefully reignite that flame he once had years ago.
Dallas really has their work cut out for them this season, as it has the potential to be the last time we get to see this Cowboys core together. In their favor, they are in a weak NFC East, with the Giants and Commanders being below average, with their only major competition in the division being the Eagles. They also play in a wide-open NFC, where any team can go the distance. Dallas has a very good roster on paper and looks to Prescott to finally make a solidified playoff run. Hopefully, Zeke can be that once powerful back he used to be and ignite the flame the Cowboys need. Overall, Dallas has the potential to make a run, and they definitely can with this team.
