Did The Giants Just Shake Up Their Draft?
Things have gotten pretty crazy for the Giants within a week or two. Not only did they sign Jameis Winston, but they also signed Russell Wilson to the roster for the new season. The question that now remains is what are they going to do with their third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. There are many who are speculating as to what is going to happen. They may go for the quarterback, they may not go for the quarterback. Yet, here is the best possible scenario for the Giants at the moment and how this may all play out for this New York team.
The Giants officially have two veteran quarterbacks on their roster and they have their backup quarterback, Tommy DeVito. What the Giants may do is they may still draft a quarterback and they may go for Travis Hunter or someone else. However, if this is the case, they will most likely cut DeVito from the roster for the season. They want to have their options open as to what they want to do between the next few seasons and they believe that easing someone else into the position may make a difference.
They may also trade up and go for Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. If that is the case, the Giants quarterback room will look like it’s in decent shape for the next few seasons. Things could be turned around, they want quarterbacks who are going to lead the team and show them how to get things done. Starting out with the Veteran quarterbacks is definitely the way to go, other teams have done it so why can’t the Giants follow in the footsteps of the rest of the NFL?
This is all a part of the current general manager Joe Schoen’s plan. He has been pretty quiet about what he has wanted to do and not really sharing what the team is going to be doing for the off-season. He has just sprung surprises on everyone and has done his best not to listen to what the fans want. He’s taking the interest and considering the team's needs more than anything. He and head coach Daboll are both in hot water at the moment but they are trying to prove themselves that they can build a stellar team. They are definitely going about this in the best way possible.
