February 26th, 2025: Best NBA Plays of the Day
Welcome back to the best plays of the day, your daily guide to the smartest plays in sports betting. To recap our last segment, we went 2-0 on the day as Kristaps Porzingis decided to sit out right before tip-off; the Celtics still cruised to a 111-101 victory versus the Raptors. Aside from that best play being voided, Luka Doncic’s best bet was successful as he shot six of 17 from the field, one of seven from three, being held to a 19-point triple-double. Kevin Durant, in a high-scoring affair, accumulated 26 points in an overtime 151-148 loss to the Grizzlies. Today, we have a nine-game slate in the NBA; as there are many options, here are our best plays.
Detroit Pistons +6.5: -166 on FanDuel Sportsbook
Betting on the Detroit Pistons at +6.5 against the Boston Celtics today could be a strong best play due to several key factors. The Pistons are coming into this matchup with momentum, having won seven straight games. While they have struggled for most of the season, this recent surge suggests they are playing with increased confidence and cohesion. Cade Cunningham has had a hot hand; over the last 10 games, he’s averaged 29.3 points per game, 9.9 assists, and six rebounds while leading the Pistons to an 8-2 record. On the injury report, Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis are ruled out; if that stands, Boston will be without two of their key players. Porzingis and Holiday significantly impact their lineup on both ends of the floor. While the Celtics are still the superior team overall, their depth will be tested in this matchup, making it less likely they’ll dominate by a wide margin. If Detroit can keep this game close, especially with their recent form and Boston’s injuries, then covering the +6.5 spread is a reasonable expectation for this best play.
Jordan Clarkson Three-Plus Made Threes: -138 on FanDuel Sportsbook
The Utah Jazz are a bad team, no doubt about it. Even as that statement reigns true, they have talented players and remain a competitive team night in and out. Expect them to play hard whether they’re up in score or not. Jordan Clarkson has been averaging two and a half made three-pointers per game this season, with a shooting percentage of 38.0% from beyond the arc. In his last nine games, he has successfully made 35 three-pointers, averaging nearly four per game. The Jazz play the Sacramento Kings, who rank in the bottom half of the league in three-pointers to shooting guards. With teammate Collin Sexton ruled out due to an ankle injury, Clarkson may see increased offensive responsibilities, potentially leading to more three-point attempts. Considering these factors, his recent shooting performance, current health status, and the team's lineup changes betting on Clarkson to make at least three three-pointers today is a well-supported best play.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to Score 25+ Points: -390 on FanDuel Sportsbook
Currently, his points prop is set at 29, with the over at -110 and the under at -120, indicating that bookmakers anticipate a high-scoring performance from him but under his average of 32.4 points per game. The MVP front-runner is leading the OKC Thunder into a matchup versus the Nets, who, as of late, have been very good defensively over the last 10 games, giving up 101.5 opponent points per contest, which is the best mark in the league in that stretch. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been on an impressive scoring streak recently. In his last five games, he has averaged 30.6 points per game, consistently surpassing the 25-point mark. Notably, he recorded 39 and 37 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves in his last two games. With the spread being -17.5, it’s predicted that this game has blowout potential. While Shai typically gets his points regardless of a blowout, 25+ is a safe threshold for this best play.
