Four Potential Teams Daniel Jones Could Sign With

NFL

The Meadowlands has been full of quarterback drama for the last week. It was only a matter of 48 hours before the Giants had their starting former quarterback, Daniel Jones, benched, moved to the practice squad, and then released in a mutual agreement. It hasn’t been great, but everyone saw what was coming for this team. They have struggled for the last several seasons with Jones and continue to struggle even without him. By 4 P.M. on Monday, Jones will go into full free agency. He will be waived, and many fans believe that it won’t take long before another team picks him up. Several playoff teams are looking into picking him up and having him as a solid backup. Here are some of the top four listed teams that are looking to sign Jones onto their practice squad or roster possibly.

1. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have been eyeballing Jones since the moment the news dropped about his release from New York. They are one of the top teams that are looking to grab Jones. The Ravens currently stand at 7-4. Currently, the Ravens are preparing to go to the playoffs for the third year in a row. They need someone to back up Lamar Jackson. If the Ravens sign him, Jones may be playing on a playoff contender team. If this is the case, he will be the backup and get to play again sooner rather than later.

2. Las Vegas Raiders

Even though the Las Vegas Raiders are not a playoff-caliber team, they have an interest in Jones. They have Gardner Minshew who has a ton of up-and-down days on the field, however, he just suffered a season-ending collarbone injury. The Raiders are desperately looking to sign a backup quarterback. Aidan O’Connell is currently out with a broken thumb. However, he is expected to return this coming weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs. They do have Carter Bradley who is on the practice squad. There is zero risk in signing Jones to the team. If he plays well, they may give him a better contract the following year and if he does not do well, the Raiders will let him walk.

3. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are in contemplation of picking up Jones onto their practice squad. The shoulder situation with Brock Purdy is not looking good and he did not suit up in the Niners Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers. If Jones signs with the 49ers, he has a chance to seek out immediate action on the field. They are struggling quarterback-wise with their current situation at hand so there may or may not be a possibility that they will pick him up.

4. Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are the other highest contender for Jones. They currently have Sam Darnold, but he is leading the team most likely into the playoffs. There is no doubt that he is their guy. However, if he gets hurt, the team will have to turn to Nick Mullens. Jones may be contemplating signing with Minnesota, but he certainly wanted to see if the Vikings could get the win over their division rivals in the Bears, and a big win in overtime may spark Jones interest.
