Four-Year Pro Linebacker Agrees to Deal with the Dolphins

NFL

In three out of his four seasons since coming into the league in 2020, linebacker Jordyn Brooks has recorded at least 100 or more combined tackles in a season. During the 2021, and 2022 seasons, Brooks recorded 100 plus solo tackles. The Seattle Seahawks played to expectations last year but fell short of the playoffs with a 9-8 record. Jordyn would become a free agent, and today he signed with the Miami Dolphins on a three-year 30-million-dollar contract.  The four-year pro linebacker is looking to make a promising career with Miami and will even try to earn his first Pro Bowl nod in 2024.

Jordyn Brooks committed to play college ball at Texas Tech University. He was named a freshman All-American by 24/7 Sports and was an honorable All-Big 12 mention in his freshman and sophomore seasons. During his senior year, the future four-year linebacker would be selected to the Second-Team All-American, and First-Team All-Big 12. Brooks was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks as the 27th overall pick during the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The 26-year-old linebacker showed a vast improvement over his first two seasons, even into his third season, but after the team’s Week 17 victory over the New York Jets during the 2022 season, the Seahawks announced the young linebacker tore his ACL.

2023 was definitely a comeback season for the four-year pro linebacker. He played in 16 games and put up 111 combined tackles, 62 of those being solo tackles, while the other 49 were assisted tackles. Brooks recorded eight tackles for a loss of yardage, with four pass deflections, four and a half sacks, and an interception. During a 2023 Thanksgiving Day matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, Jordyn had 12 combined tackles, seven solo, and five assisted, with a pass deflection, and his first career interception, in which he ran back 12 yards for a touchdown. Seattle went on to lose this game 31-13. During six of the 16 games Jordyn Brooks played, he had at least ten or more combined tackles.
