Four-Year Pro Offensive Guard Signs Massive Deal with the Panthers

NFL

For the past few seasons, the Miami Dolphins have been putting the pieces together, and trying to win their first AFC East Divisional Title since 2008. This past season, Miami looked strong early on, but by the end of the season, they crumbled, losing out on winning the division, only to be eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs in one of the coldest games of the year. After a season filled with ups and downs, offensive guard Robert Hunt became a free agent. It was just announced that the four-year pro has signed a five-year deal worth up to 100 million dollars with 63 million being guaranteed by the Carolina Panthers.

Robert Hunt played four years of college football at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He was named to the Second-Team All-Sun Belt during his junior season in 2018, and then to the First-Team All-Sun Belt a year later. The four-year pro went on to be selected as the 39th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. Since being drafted, just like the team, Hunt has been learning and improving each and every day and only hopes to get better after signing this brand-new deal with the Panthers.

Last season, Robert only played in 11 games with the Dolphins. During the 2022 season when Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered that traumatic concussion, Tua was sacked 21 times through 13 games. A year later, a healthy Tagovailoa played in all 17 games and was sacked 31 times this season, which was tied for fourth-best in the NFL. Clearly, the offensive line had some chemistry, and a system that made sure their quarterback was locked down and protected. Hunt will be looking to do the same thing now with his teammates on the Panthers.
