Breakout Linebacker Gets Money He Deserves

It has been reported that Texans Linebacker Blake Cashman has signed a three-year deal worth up to 25 and a half million dollars with the Minnesota Vikings. This is huge news as this past season Cashman had the best season of his career by far. In the 2023 season, he put together an impressive campaign where he finished with over 100 total tackles on a strong Texans defense. Alongside Christian Harris and rookie Will Anderson, they were one of the best linebacker position groups in the entire NFL. 

Cashman will give the Vikings a huge presence in the middle and incredible effort in the run defense. This past season Pro Football Focus rated him as one of the best linebackers in the league with an overall grade of 83.7. This was better than both Bobby Wagner and CJ Mosley both of which had incredible seasons overall even at their respective ages. While many people may not even know who Blake Cashman is this early in his career, he has proven to be already one of the best in the NFL with his one-year turnaround. 

To start his career, he spent three seasons with the New York Jets. In his time with the Jets, he combined for a total of 49 solo tackles. This past season Cashman almost doubled that number. While coming out of college he had little expectation to be a major starter in the league he has proven many people wrong and has now gotten himself a contract to prove it. With the Vikings this upcoming season look for him to be pushing for a Pro Bowl selection.
