From Danny Dimes to Josh Allen 2.0, Brian Daboll’s Magic at Work
Much discussion has been on the situation of the Giants' starting quarterback, Daniel Jones. The Giants' starting quarterback has had a ton of trials and tribulations during this season so far. There is talk of him hitting the bench, and there is also talk of him doing much better each week when he steps foot on the field. Coach Brian Daboll has had a considerable hand on both sides of the claims.
Coach Daboll came from the Buffalo Bills. During his time there, he built quarterback Josh Allen into who he is today, a tough running quarterback who knows how to play the game. Daboll had Allen, who only did a little for the team initially. He pushed for things to turn around. He always wanted to try new things, but Allen had to earn Daboll’s trust. Once it was found, out of the blue, Allen became a great quarterback, and many NFL fans are starting to see history repeat itself in New York with Jones.
Jones has significantly improved despite a rocky start, which included a series of interceptions and other failed games for the Giants. His connection with the running backs and receivers has become more consistent, and he has even started to emulate Josh Allen's tactics. This improvement in Jones’ performance under Daboll's guidance is a promising sign for the future. Many fans saw this at work during Sunday’s game against the Bengals.
The two quarterbacks are nearly the same person, too. Allen's completion rate is 62.3%, compared to Jones' 63%, and Jones has thrown more interceptions than Allen. Allen's stats may be slightly bigger only because he has played a little longer. They are both able to run down the field if need be. It’s interesting to watch how these two quarterbacks have grown under Daboll. They’ve both become better than when they both started with him.
The only other thing that fans have also noticed is that the two quarterbacks are beginning to look like each other. Jones has grown a beard, and Allen has grown one too. It makes fans wonder what Daboll has done to make a difference for them. Before the end of the season, Jones will have complete trust in Daboll and be able to make more wins for the team. Daboll has taken time to pull out his old tactics and give them to the Giants. He is teaching them some of the playbook and turning them into what New York needs, a winning team.
