F1 Legend Adrian Newey Departs from Red Bull

F1 legend Adrian Newey surprised everyone in the racing world when he announced that he would officially be leaving Red Bull. Newey has been a partner with Red Bull for 19 years, and his departure leaves many people with questions. Adrian played a huge role in the different developments of different F1 cars throughout the years. He first started to design with the March GTP sports car, which was a highly successful design, and won the IMSA GTP title two years running. Adrian also played a huge role in the different March Indy car projects. He designed many different winning cars, such as the March 85C, which won the 1985 CART championship in the hands of Al Unser

He then joined Red Bull in 2006, which would solidify his name in the history books of Formula 1. Throughout his first year, many of the results Red Bull was getting weren’t good at all. which, throughout six races, they only scored two points. In 2010, Newey helped design the Red Bull car, which was called an RB6. This car would eventually start to dominate the competition and was seen as the class of the field. Throughout the years 2010–2023, he would accomplish many different achievements with different drivers. Sebastian Vettel, who represented Red Bull with Newey, would go on to win different championships from 2010 to 2013. The different cars that he designed and engineered were the RB6, RB7, RB8, and RB9. These different cars would dominate the field to defend both the World Drivers’ and World Constructors’ Championships at the 2013 Indian Grand Prix. With all this success, Red Bull would eventually announce that Newey would be extending his contract with Red Bull.

Then in 2021, Adrian Newey designed the RB16B, which would help him win the Drivers’ Championship with driver Max Verstappen. Throughout 2021–2024, driver Max Verstappen would win multiple driver championships from Adrian Newey’s designs. He designed the RB19, which would become one of the most dominant F1 cars in history. Throughout all this success with Red Bull, eventually, Adrian Newey decided that it was time to part ways on April 25, 2024. Red Bull Racing then stated that he was contracted until 2025, but five days later the departure was completed, and it would be officially announced prior to the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. This leaves many people in question about his future. Will he join F1 legend Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari? In an interview, Lewis Hamilton said that he was at the top of his wish list when it came to designers and engineers joining his team. Adrian Newey was then flattered by these comments. Could we see a Lewis Hamilton and Adrian Newey duo in the future?
