Giants and Jets Joint Practice: What to Know

NFL

The Giants are still being prepared for the preseason finale this coming Saturday. Their joint practice on Wednesday did not go as well as the Giants had planned, and many have said that the Giants needed to be better in their practice. The most significant focus for the Giants at the joint practice was cleaning up easy mistakes made by both the offensive and defensive line. It did not look good for them.

On the offensive side, the receivers dropped way too many passes that should not have been dropped. One that was seen and did not please anyone on the team was Daniel Jones' pass to Malik Nabers. Jones threw the ball to Nabers up the sideline, and he dropped the ball upon receiving the catch. What set the Giants off the most was the end of their practice when they made mistakes during their last set of drills that, during a game, could have sent this team crippling if they were in an actual gameplay session.

During their joint practices, the defense appeared to be off their game. The team let several plays slip by them and could not stop the Jets' receivers. The play that stood out the most was when the Giants managed to stop the Jets' offense. Brian Burns tipped a pass, and linebacker Bobby Okereke intercepted passes from Jets starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, that all disappeared when the referees called a flag on Dru Phillips for holding. Things got worse when it gave Rodgers a chance to make a pass to Garrett Wilson

The Giants had some decent moments, with some touchdowns made during practice time. Jones created one short pass to veteran Chris Manhertz, and it was followed up by one touchdown made by Jones, who used his legs to make it happen. Burns was on fire in the red zone. He consistently made stops everywhere where they needed to be. It was good for the team during some parts of the joint practices. However, the Giants still need a ton of work before Saturday. Easy mistakes are still happening to them, and they should not be. The Giants will play the Jets this Saturday night for the preseason finale, and fans will see where the team needs to be fixed.
