With 2025 officially underway, we will start getting answers to the questions we have at the beginning of every season. Which stars will shine the brightest? Who will take home the Major championships? Who might find themselves falling short of expectations? Here is the 2025 player prediction for Patrick Cantlay.

Official World Golf Ranking: 11

Wins: 0

Major Wins: 0

2024 Summary

The 2024 season for Cantlay would certainly be one he would like to forget. Known for his calm demeanor, methodical approach, and reliability, Cantlay just struggled to find any consistency in his game last year. In the 19 events played last year, the former Tour Championship winner made the top 10 four times, was in the top 10 12 times, and missed the cut once. His best finish was tied for third, which he did twice, once at the RBC Heritage and again at the U.S. Open. Cantlay ranked 38th in strokes gained total, 55th in strokes gained tee to green, 102nd in strokes gained on approach shots, and 53rd in strokes gained putting. Definitely not numbers we have become used to from the American. He is currently ranked 11th in the official world golf rankings.

2025 Prediction

Cantlay has played one event so far in 2025, the Sentry in Hawaii, where he finished tied for 15th. If he wants to get back into contention and give himself a chance to win at the events he plays, Cantlay is going to have to find the consistency in his ball striking and putting that we have grown accustomed to seeing from him. He hasn’t won since the 2022 season, where he won twice, he was the runner-up twice in 2023, and a tie for third was his best finish in 2024, which he did twice. This shows that the 32-year-old is trending in the wrong direction, which can be an indication that he may be on the decline. The prediction for Patrick Cantlay’s 2025 is one win or less, does not do better than a top 10 in any of the Major Championships, but he may still be considered for a Captain’s Pick for the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup Team, mainly due to his past performances in team events. He will still finish in the top 20 in the official world golf rankings.
