Grambling Tigers Wins Their First Southwestern Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship Game  

As the Grambling Tigers and the Texas Southern Tigers faced off last night during the Southwestern Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship Game, it will certainly be one to remember for Grambling as it was their first SWAC championship in their school’s history. Grambling dominated in the first half, and never looked back as they defeated Texas Southern 75-66. These Grambling Tigers starters scored 64 of the team’s 75 points to secure their first championship. Let’s look at how one Tigers team defeated the other!

Grambling went on a roll during the first half. They outscored Texas Southern 41-24, and even with 20 minutes remaining in the game, this one already looked like it was in the books. However, Texas Southern tried to keep this game interesting, they outscored Grambling 32-24 in the second half, but the Grambling Tigers' damage from the first half was too much for the Texas Southern Tigers to handle. The Grambling Tigers found themselves in a mix of emotions after winning their first Southwestern Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship Game. 

For the Grambling Tigers, Jourdan Smith led the team with 20 points along with three rebounds, and two assists. Grambling guard Antwan Burnett put up 14 points, and four rebounds during the big win. For Texas Southern, guard Jonathan Cisse led all scorers with 21 points plus recorded three rebounds, and an assist. Deon Stroud scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out an assist during the loss.
