Hart and Brunson Lead Knicks to Victory at MSG

NBA

The New York Knicks took on the Sacramento Kings tonight after dropping their previous three games. Both teams this year have been much better than expected and should be major threats in the playoffs. Earlier today the Knicks and the whole NBA world were informed that Julius Randle will miss the remainder of the season after electing to get shoulder surgery. Randle will now be reevaluated in five months. The Knicks now must plan for a playoff run without Randle and it started tonight.

The Kings started great tonight shooting the lights out from three. They shot 7-10 from three and came out of the first quarter with a 35-20 lead. De’Aaron Fox was on fire contributing 16 points before halftime. But on the other end, Jalen Brunson was on his game as well. He scored 18 points in the first half including a deep three-pointer to end the half and cut the lead to eight. In the second half, the Knicks had an uphill fight to face but they came prepared as Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart led a scoring effort to tie up the game 87-87 heading into the fourth.

After what looked like a four-game losing streak for the Knicks early, in the fourth quarter they played some of their basketball of the season. Brunson and Hart were all over the court tonight, both putting up over 30 each. Hart, who had a career-high points two years ago with the Trailblazers had maybe his best game since then. These strong efforts led to one of the best comebacks for the Knicks this year. As the fourth Started the Kings seemed to have lost the shooting magic they possessed to start the game. The Knicks went on to outscore the Kings by 11 in the fourth to seal their victory 120-109. They will look to build off this game and carry their momentum forward in their matchup with the Chicago Bulls Tomorrow night. While the Kings will be taking on the one-seed Celtics looking to avoid a losing streak.
