How Grayson Allen Turned into a Must-Re-Sign for the Suns

NBA

Following an impressive 2023-24 campaign, Grayson Allen has agreed to a contract extension with the Suns for four years, $70 million. Allen is coming off the best year of his career, earning him a significant boost this offseason. He shot a 46.1% clip from three-point range and led the NBA in long-distance percentage. Now a legitimate three-point threat that handled more minutes, Allen became an important re-signing for Phoenix.

Since coming into the league in 2018, Allen has been a member of four different teams. However, there has been steady growth in points, shooting percentages, and plus-minus. Allen spent the last year in Phoenix, being a key contributor to the Suns’ overall production when the “big three” was not fully healthy. Allen finished in the top 10 for the most improved player after averaging about 14 points, three rebounds and three assists on a league-high in three-point shooting.

Now on his first large contract, Allen is a key factor in the Suns’ finding team success. After only playing two games on limited minutes in the playoffs, Allen now figures to bounce back and make a significant impact next season. He poses a major threat from the outside and will be used to stretch the floor, playing next to high-caliber players. After four different teams in five years, Allen seems to have created his home in Phoenix for the foreseeable future.
