International President’s Cup Team Preview

The 2024 President’s Cup, the professional golf tournament between some of the best in the men’s game from the United States and the International Team, excluding Europe, will be played in Montreal in Quebec, Canada at the Royal Montreal Golf Club. The International Team comes in with one win, 12 losses, and one tie all-time record, including losing the last 10 straight. They will be led by captain, Canadian Mike Weir, who also captained the Ryder Cup team in 2018. The International Team will be coming in as the heavy underdogs yet again with a total of only four players ranked in the top 25. Meet the International Team.

Automatically Qualified:

Hideki Matsuyama:

Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama is currently ranked seventh in the official world rankings with two wins, a Bronze medal in the Paris Olympics, and seven top-10 finishes in the 2024 season. He led the International team in President’s Cup points to automatically qualify and finished ninth in the FedEx Cup. Hideki is ranked fourth in total strokes gained, third in strokes gained tee to green, and first in strokes gained around the green. He went 1-3-1 for a total of one-and-a-half points in the 2022 President’s Cup. This will be Hideki Matsuyama’s sixth appearance in the event.

Sungjae Im:

Republic of Korea’s Sungjae Im is the 20th-ranked player in the world with no wins, no runner-ups, and eight top-10 finishes in 2024. He finished second in President’s Cup points to automatically qualify and finished seventh in the FedEx Cup. Sungjae is ranked second in scrambling from inside 30 yards, fifth in proximity to the hole from sand, and 17th in overall putting average. He went 2-2-1 for two-and-a-half points in the 2022 event. This will be Sungjae Im’s third President’s Cup appearance.

Adam Scott:

Australia's Adam Scott is the 18th-ranked player in the world with no wins, two runner-ups, and five top-10 finishes this season. He finished third in President’s Cup points to automatically qualify and finished fourth in the FedEx Cup. Adam is ranked 17th in strokes gained total, 10th in scrambling from 20-30 yards, and 20th in approaches from 100-125 yards. He went 2-3-0 in the 2022 President’s Cup for two points. This will be Adam Scott’s 11th President’s Cup appearance.

Tom Kim:

Republic of Korea’s Tom Kim is the 23rd-ranked player in the world with no wins, one runner-up, and two top-10 finishes this year. He finished fourth in President’s Cup points to automatically qualify and finished 51st in the FedEx Cup. Tom is ranked third in approaches from 125-150 yards, 20th in approaches from 75-100 yards, and tenth in approach putt performance. He went 2-3-0 for two points in the 2022 President’s Cup. This will be Tom Kim’s second appearance in the event.

Jason Day:

Australia’s Jason Day is currently the 33rd-ranked player in the world with no wins, no runner-ups, and four top-10 finishes in 2024. He finished fifth in President’s Cup points to automatically qualify and finished 33rd in the FedEx Cup. Jason is ranked 11th in strokes gained putting, ninth in scrambling from within 10 yards, and ninth in overall putting average. This will be Jason Day’s fifth appearance in the President’s Cup, with a 5-11-4 career record, but was not on the 2022 team.

Byeong Hun An:

Republic of Korea’s Byeong Hun An is currently the 34th-ranked player in the world with no wins, one runner-up, and five top-10 finishes this season. He finished sixth in President’s Cup points to automatically qualify and finished 21st in the FedEx Cup. Byeong is ranked first in total driving efficiency, eighth in approaches from 175-200 yards, and 19th in strokes gained off the tee. This will be Byeong Hun An’s second appearance in the President’s Cup, with a 1-2-2 career record, but was not on the 2022 team.

This will be Christiaan Bezuidenhout’s second appearance in the President’s Cup.

He finished 15th in President’s Cup points and made the team via Captain’s Pick. Mackenzie is ranked fourth in strokes gained around the green, fourth in strokes gained putting, and third in overall putting average. This will be Mackenzie Hughes' first appearance in the President’s Cup.

Si Woo Kim:

Republic of Korea’s Si Woo Kim is the 50th-ranked player in the world with no wins, no runner-ups, and two top-10 finishes in the 2024 season. He was 14th in President’s Cup points and made the team via Captain’s Pick. Si Woo is ranked 12th in strokes gained tee to green, 16th in strokes gained approach, and seventh in approaches from 50-75 yards. He went 3-1-0 in the 2022 event. This will be Si Woo Kim’s third President’s Cup appearance.

Min Woo Lee:

Australia’s Min Woo Lee is the 40th-ranked player in the world with no wins, two runner-ups, and two top-10 finishes in 2024. He finished ninth in President’s Cup points and made the team via Captain’s Pick. Min Woo is ranked fourth in strokes gained off the tee, fifth in driving distance, and seventh in three-putt avoidance. This will be Min Woo Lee’s first appearance in the President’s Cup.

Canada’s Taylor Pendrith is the 44th-ranked player in the world with one win, no runner-ups, and six top-10 finishes this year. He finished 11th in President’s Cup points and made the team via Captain’s Pick. Taylor is ranked seventh in strokes gained putting, eighth in driving distance, and fifth in putting average.
