Joe Hendry Should and Will Be the New NXT Champion

WWE

At NXT No Mercy 2024 on Sunday, September 1st, NXT Champion Ethan Page will face off against number one contender Joe Hendry. Last night on NXT, Hendry defeated Wes Lee and Pete Dunne to earn that number-one contender spot. Over the course of 2024, Hendry’s fame and popularity had skyrocketed to unfathomable levels. Shawn Michaels and the rest of the crew running NXT have outdone themselves once again with this partnership with TNA as it has benefitted not only young, future WWE superstars but TNA stars as well.

If Joe Hendry wins the NXT Championship, not only will he be showing up to WWE broadcasting every Tuesday night, but he’ll be showing up to TNA Impact every Thursday night with a WWE belt around his waist. Regardless of the inter-promotional crossover, many fans want to see Hendry become the new NXT Champion. During last night’s match, champion Ethan Page tried to do everything he could to prevent Hendry from winning. Now, will Page be intimidated going up against the man everyone believes in?

Just through 2024, we have seen three NXT champions. Ilja Dragunov, Trick Williams, and Page. It wouldn’t be surprising based on Hendry’s popularity, in-ring ability, and how this NXT/TNA storyline is building that the man everyone believes in will take the title on September 1st. One question that would be interesting to see if Hendry wins is; eventually, will an NXT or a TNA superstar win the title off Hendry? I certainly believe in Joe Hendry building his name, and brand while becoming the next NXT Champion.
