KD Moves to the Tenth Spot on the NBA’s All-Time Scoring List
Since coming into the league during the 2007-2008 NBA season, Kevin Durant has proven that his scoring capabilities are generational. Last night in a 119-111 home loss against the Denver Nuggets, KD dropped 30 points and dished out eleven assists. After driving the baseline to score two points with less than 50 seconds going into halftime, Durant passed the legendary Moses Malone to become the tenth spot on the NBA’s All-Time Scoring List. By the game’s end, KD finished the game with a total of 27,423 career points, passing Malone’s 24,409. Let’s check out KD’s stats for this year, and for his career, while looking at how the Phoenix Suns are competing within the Western Conference this season.
In 17 games played thus far, Kevin Durant is averaging about 31 points, seven rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block a game. Besides KD’s rookie season, Durant has averaged at least 25 or more for 15 consecutive years. Through his illustrious career, Kevin has been selected to 13 all-star games, was named the 2014 NBA MVP, and won two championships with the Golden State Warriors. He was named Finals MVP twice in 2017, and 2018. The Phoenix Suns are 11-8 currently holding the sixth seed in the Western Conference. Phoenix held a 3-1 record in the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament. They took the West Wild Card, the fourth and final spot within the West, and will play the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
After last night’s loss, KD took the time to appreciate the great Moses Malone saying, "It's a long journey to be up there, mentioned with the greats. It takes a lot of work, a lot of preparation, a lot of people helping me get to this point. As a basketball player, I think it's our job to go back and know the history of the game and who paved the way for us.” Last year, LeBron James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, now having the most points scored in the NBA with 39,124. James took to Twitter to acknowledge and congratulate Kevin Durant, who, besides LeBron, is the only other active player in the top 25 of the all-time list. When he retires, where will Kevin Durant be on the NBA’s All-Time Scoring List?
