Knicks Return Home; Welcome the Blazers to Close Out March
Coming off an impressive performance against the Milwaukee Bucks in which the Knicks flourished even with all the injuries, they welcome the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday Evening. Leading the way for New York as of late is O.G. Anunoby, who has been playing the best offensive basketball of his career over the past few games, has scored over 22 in each of his last five games and surpassed thirty in two of them. They also had guards, Tyler Kolek and Delon Wright, step up and impress in the absence of the rest of the backcourt due to injuries. Jalen Brunson and Miles McBride are both listed as game-time decisions for this game, so we will have to wait till tip-off to lay eyes on the official lineup.
Game Insight
Now all Knicks fans remember what happened the last time they faced the Blazers, Mikal Bridges hit a thrilling shot at the end and shocked the Portland faithful. Although they won the last time, it could have gone either way, so the Knicks should look to put on a much more definitive performance this time. The Knicks may have officially clinched a playoff berth, but they still have to play intensely to lock up the three seed or possibly move up to the second. Portland is also still fighting to earn a spot in the play-in, as they are a few games back, so expect both teams to play with an extra edge here.
Key Matchup
The matchup to watch in this game for me is Shaedon Sharpe vs Mikal Bridges. Both tenacious on the offensive side of the ball, they are each looking to continue their impressive play this season and provide the necessary spark needed to launch their team to a victory. Sharpe is a high flyer who will look to use his aggressive play style to triumph over the Knicks’ defensive unit.
Sharpe will have a tough task, however, as Bridges has proved he will not shy away from this Blazers defense and will for sure give him all he's got and more.
