Micah McFadden Not Out for the Season After Avoiding Serious Injury

NFL

Good news was received for the New York Giants today. On the defensive side, insider linebacker Micah McFadden is not out for the season. After leaving Saturday's game against Houston with a severe groin injury, he will be okay. He is predicted to only be out for the next three weeks, but he should be ready for Week One of the regular season, which will take place on Sunday, September 8th, against the Minnesota Vikings.

Things were not going well for the Giants against the Texans last Saturday. During the first half, McFadden left the game on a cart, and things were not looking good. He was attempting to make a stop against Texans running back Dameon Pierce. Doctors initially thought it was a hip injury, but after a full examination, they found that they had labeled it a groin injury.

McFadden is expected to start at the inside linebacker position next to Bobby Okereke this season. His stats are above and beyond, and he has spent much time working his way up to the starting position. McFadden is a 2022 fifth-round draft pick that came out of Indiana. Last season, he made 101 tackles, with 63 solo tackles and 12 for a loss. He had six QB hits, five passes defensed, one which was an interception, and he had four fumble recoveries.

McFadden should definitely be ready to go back in Week One. The Giants don’t have anyone who could replace him, especially with his unique skill set. The Giants may need to look into free agency and pick up one or two more linebackers. The Giants' linebacker core is very thin, and with him out, it will be a little bit of a struggle. Being out for only three weeks is much better than being out for three months. While McFadden is out for the time being, the Giants will have to rely on Darius Muasau. Both other linebackers, Dyontae Johnson and Carter Coughlin are currently out on injury. Other players, such as Matthew Adams, Darrian Beavers, and K.J. Cloyd, will be stepping up until then.
