Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Denver Broncos Week Two Preview

NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to face off the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium this upcoming Sunday. For this Week Two matchup, the Broncos are coming off a 20-26 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, while the Steelers are heading into the game with an 18-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons under their belt. Both teams’ quarterbacks were decisive in the results of their respective Week One games. For the Denver team, their rookie Bo Nix, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 draft, had a rocky start averaging under five yards per attempt, and seemed to struggle on the field. Conversely, the Steelers’ backup quarterback Justin Fields stepped up and had a promising game after the starting man, Russell Wilson, was sidelined due to a calf injury. Fields performed so well that Mike Tomlin, the Steelers head coach, faces a difficult decision in choosing the starting quarterback.

Currently, the Pittsburgh Steelers are favored over the Denver Broncos by two and a half points, and an over/under of 37.5. ESPN, the popular sports network, has the Steelers predicted a 57.4% chance of the Steelers prevailing over the Broncos on Sunday as well, meanwhile offering the Colorado team a 42.2% chance of winning. The Pittsburgh team’s defense will be incredibly important in this game, and linebacker T.J. Watt will be crucial for the Steelers to clinch the win. Watt had an explosive and dominant performance last week against the Falcons, and it was during this game that he showcased his tactic of tackling on the right side. Mike McGlinchey, the Broncos’ right tackle, and Watt will be a key matchup in this game. McGlinchey must be prepared for the constant pressure Watt brings to the field to secure the win for the Broncos.

George Pickens is another essential Pittsburgh Steeler in this upcoming match, with his previous total of six catches and 85 yards, Coach Tomlin is looking for him to recreate some of that power in the Denver game. Pickens is joined by running back Najee Harris, who used his 20 pass attempts to gain 70 yards, averaging three and a half yards per catch. The Denver Broncos’ defensive performance last week left much to be desired. They gave up long runs by the quarterback and other players, even one touchdown run, and the Colorado team is looking to tighten up and prevent those during their Week Two match. With the Steelers looking to repeat their Week One success, and the Broncos looking to secure their first-season win, the game is sure to be a good one.
