Rusev Returning To WWE; What Will This Mean?

WWE

As the news has just come out that former United States Champion, Alexander Rusev, is returning to the WWE, fans can be nothing but optimistic for his future with the company. There are so many possibilities with where his career can go from here. While his comeback is highly anticipated, there's a bittersweet feeling, as Rusev may not be reuniting with his former manager, Lana. Their partnership was key to his success, with Lana playing a major role in his character’s rise to dominance.

Let's cross our fingers that he’ll capture the same magic from his previous run, especially with the fan-favorite "Rusev Day" catchphrase that made him a beloved figure in the late 2010s. While excitement surrounds his return, there’s also a worry that it might not live up to expectations, especially with the way others have struggled when coming back without their original managers. A notable example of this is former World Champion Alberto Del Rio, who, upon his return in 2015, appeared without Ricardo Rodriguez. His return wasn’t nearly as memorable as his first run, and Rusev might face a similar challenge if WWE doesn’t find a way to bring back his old appeal.

Rusev has always excelled in the "Foreign Heel" role, playing the bad guy to perfection, much like Gunther, who has thrived in a similar position. This character trait could make Rusev a major threat to the top of the WWE card, especially, with the shifting dynamics of the roster. His return could be a perfect opportunity to reignite that persona and climb back up the ranks. A potential "Two-Man Power Trip" tag team with someone like Gunther could give the tag division the boost it needs, combining raw power with technical skill. Regardless of his direction, Rusev’s return is a welcome one. In WWE’s current landscape of talent, he’s more entertaining than many of WWE’s more consistent wrestlers today. Fans are hoping he’ll live up to the hype once again, bringing excitement to the ring. With his return, there’s a lot of anticipation about what’s next for him and his impact on the company.
