Scheffler and McIIroy Set to Face off Against Dechambeau and Koepka in PGA vs LIV Event

Everyone is aware of the feud that the PGA Tour and LIV Tour have off the course. However, now the two will clash on the course this upcoming December when the PGA’s Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy face off against the LIV’s Bryson Dechambeau and Brooks Koepka. The event will air in prime time on TNT. The players will receive fees for their appearances, but there will be no prize money for the winner, making this a true bragging rights competition between the tours.

Despite no money being involved, the intrigue between these four players is well worth the price of admission. Just this past summer, Dechambeau narrowly defeated McIlroy on the last hole of the U.S. Open after Rory’s back nine collapse. Also, the well-known beef between the LIV teammates, Koepka and Dechambeau, from a few years ago seems to have been squashed since then, but it is still surprising to some to see them willingly team up in an event together given their dramatic past. Last but certainly not least, the headline is that the best golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler, will be participating. Anytime Scheffler plays, it is must-see TV and this event where he is paired with the most audible voice representing the PGA in Rory McIIroy makes this even better.

This competition strikes up many similarities to The Match series, however it is still uncertain at this time if this event will be labeled as a continuation of it. Regardless, it is going to be a golf fan’s dream to see some of the best and most relevant players in the sport go head to head on national TV, especially during one of the most dormant times of the year for golf. The time and location for the event will be announced at a later date.
