Should Dallas Draft a Falling Tetaiora McMillan?
Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cowboys are in need of offensive star power to pair with CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys, who have the 12th pick, could look to draft a receiver in the first round to add more threats on offense. Receivers like Luther Burden and Emeka Egbuka are names that often come up for Dallas to select with their pick. However, one player who was projected to be selected higher in the draft has seemingly begun to fall on many mock drafts and could find himself landing in Dallas. Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan at pick 12 should be a no-brainer for Brian Schottenheimer and this Cowboys front office if he happens to be available in that spot.
The 6’5, 212-pound, 21-year-old played all three years of his collegiate career at the University of Arizona. Mcmillan has racked up 213 receptions, 3423 yards, and 26 touchdowns in his time at Arizona, with over 1300 yards and 8 touchdowns coming this past season. With his large frame, McMillan has the elite ability to high-point the football in the air. Despite skipping the 40-yard dash in this year's combine, McMillan does posses elite speed which allows him to be able to beat defensive backs from overtop. He does have questions about route running and toughness after the catch, but his positives outnumber his few negatives. With mock drafts from the likes of Mel Kiper and Daniel Jeremiah having McMillan falling, there are several reasons why he is a must-take for Dallas.
Dallas is in dire need of a consistent wide receiver two option, as Jalen Tolbert, Brandin Cooks, and Jalen Brooks are not cutting it. McMillan provides a deep threat with a high catch radius. For Dak Prescott, it allows him to get away with not the greatest throws at times due to McMillan's size. His presence will be to the benefit of Lamb, as teams will not be able to focus in on just him like this previous season. Whether Dallas drafts or does not draft McMillan, he is sure to become a wide receiver that teams will regret passing up on.
